The CRS is an online tool developed by the Canadian government meant to award points based on specific criteria to those who want to immigrate to Canada. More specifically, applicants must fill out the fields of this tool, and based on their score they will find out if they are eligible for the Express Entry Program.

How does it work?
If you are a foreign citizen and want to relocate to Canada, the first step you will need to do is fill out your profile on the Canada CRS. You need to complete information like:
- work qualifications and experience;
- studies;
- age and marital status;

The Canada CRS and the Express Entry Scheme

- the work must have been related to the 0, A, or B NOC;
- good knowledge of English or French (a minimum level of 7, according to the Canadian testing requirements);
- at least a high school diploma is also required.
The main condition of this subclass is for the applicant to be willing to live in Quebec. It is also possible to bring family members along, as long as he or she has the financial means to support the dependents.

The Federal Skilled Trades Program
The third subclass of the Canadian Express Entry scheme is the FST. As its name says, this subclass targets skilled people. One must have a job offer from a Canadian company or the documents to prove their qualifications.
This is the subclass with the least requirements, and it is intended for persons willing to live in any other province or territory than Quebec. Also, the minimum language level for the Federal Skilled Trades Program is 4 for both English and French, whichever the applicant qualifies for.

Awarding points under the Canadian merit-based ranking system
Here is how the points are awarded under the CRS:
- language skills can bring you a minimum of 20 points if you have good knowledge of both French and English;
- education can also bring you another 10 points;
- work experience can bring another 50 points;
- age can bring a minimum of 90 points.
However, these points will only earn you a little over the minimum score, which is why the system is designed to help you improve your score. For example, obtaining employment for a minimum period of one year before applying for the Canada CRS will bring you an additional 10 points. Immigrating with your spouse can bring another 10 points.
